Charley McBride

In 1999, Charley took her first Ujjayi breath and found her yoga practice.  In 2004, Charley’s first yoga teacher, Ann Hyde, urged her to teach.  Under Ann’s influence, Charley completed teacher training programs with Robert Boustany in 2005 and Ana Forrest in 2006.

During Robert’s training, Charley was introduced to Billie Gollnick, Julie Byrd, and Srivatsa Ramaswami.  Charley began studying classical  yoga with Billie Gollnick, and continues to learn the eight limbs of yoga from Billie, inside and outside of the classroom.  At the same time, Charley started studying Recuperative Yoga with Julie Byrd and  is currently enrolled in Julie’s Recuperative Yoga Teacher Training.  Charley completed Srivatsa Ramaswami’s Vinyasakrama Teacher Training in 2006, and continued studying  Vinyasakrama with Pam Johnson.

In 2005, Charley began studying Qigong and Tai Chi with DaSifu Shi De Shan of the Houston Shaolin Temple.  She continues her studies at the temple and considers Qigong and Tai Chi a very important part of her personal practice.

Charley’s classes show influences from all of her teachers.  However, her point of focus comes back to that first Ujjayi breath.  Charley hopes to instill in all her students the essence of yoga: the union of mind, body, and breath as a tool to unite with one’s true self.
