Forrest Yoga honors and celebrates the
beauty of life and the power of Spirit. It
is an inspiring yoga practice that builds
flexibility, intelligence and strength while
helping deepen the relationship with your
authentic self. Accessing your intuition -
the voice of your Spirit - builds personal
strength and ushers integrity into your
daily interactions with all beings. Forrest
Yoga challenges you to heal, grow and
welcome your Spirit home.
As a
beginner to Forrest Yoga, you learn to
breathe deeply and connect in feeling with
your body. As you progress, you get
proficient at safely tailoring each pose to
work best for you; particularly with
physical and emotional injuries. Learning to
work honestly at your edges, you develop
effective tools to deal with fear and
struggle. This makes it possible for
integrity, self awareness and playful
curiosity to become part of your daily
life.
Forrest
Yoga specifically addresses Our
People's (current day) stresses and
challenges, both physical and emotional.
Forrest Yoga uses intense pose sequences,
compassionately taught, to develop skills in
awakening each of the senses. It teaches you
to bring aliveness, using breath, into every
cell of your body, igniting your passion for
living.

Yoga for Warriors, All Levels
Yoga’s physical postures promote
healthy, flexible bodies and often
provide relief from pain. The class is
so gentle that veterans, many of whom
have other health conditions or serious
physical limitations, find the postures
comfortable and easy to do. Yoga
directly addresses the fight-or-flight
response, which is at the heart of PTSD.
The fight-or-flight response is a
reaction that prepares the body to fight
or flee from perceived threat. Because
yoga deals directly with the mind-body
connection, it helps veterans retrain
the fight-or-flight response. Now, when
they confront a situation that triggers
their memories, instead of resorting to
aggression or drowning in fear, they
have other options: deep breathing, for
example, as a means to self-calm.
*class is for combat vets, active
duty military & significant others
*all classes are donation-based
($5-10). Bring your yoga mat if you
like or borrow one of ours. Please
wear appropriate exercise gear and
be prompt. Classes last 60 to 75
minutes.
