Jen Johnson

Jen started her yoga practice back in 1996 when she enrolled in a class with some friends at a local night school. She was looking for relief from allergies and anxiety attacks, and found much, much more. "I can still remember that first class like it was yesterday...I new I had found something deep...something that instantly changed my life. It really did hit me that hard the first time! I felt relaxed in a way I didn't know was possible." After that class, she started reading and studying and taking as many different classes as she could.

In 1997, she did her Teacher Training at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, one of the largest yoga centers in the U.S., located in the Berkshire mountains in MA. She also did trainings on the East Coast with Rodney Yee, Baron Baptiste, Gary Craftsow, Rama Birch, David Newman, and her favorite teacher of all time, Erich Schiffmann, with whom she did an Advanced Teacher Training in 1999.

Her teaching style is a culmination of years of practice in Hatha, Iyengar, Bikram, Ashtanga, Restorative and Vinyasa traditions. "I would describe it as slow flow, with LOTS of time in the poses, a lot of emphasis on breath and feeling your way through the poses. I believe in stillness as the ultimate goal of practice- to unkink, unwind, undo stress and tension in the body-mind, and then enjoy the quiet stillness." Absolutely ALL levels are welcome.
